Small Grants for Early Career Digital Publications

Applications for 2025-2026 are open until May 19

The Small Grants for Early Career Digital Publications offers a $1200 stipend and technical support for a digital publication on a cartographic or geographic topic which will be featured in the LMEC’s digital platforms. Grantees are not required to work in person in Boston.

Allmaps Research Fellowships

Applications open on a rolling basis

Researchers, scholars, and cartographers working at the intersection of digital humanities and public geography are invited to apply to our Allmaps Research Fellowships. We offer a $1200 stipend and limited technical support to for projects that leverage the Allmaps software ecosystem. Recipients' work will be published on LMEC’s digital platforms. These fellowships are supported by a Digital Humanities Advancement Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (Award HAA-293491-23).

NERFC Research Fellowships

Applications open through Feburary 1, 2025

We are a participating institution in the New England Regional Fellowship Consortium. The NERFC fellowship offers a $5,000 stipend for historians who wish to work in at least three institutions represented in the consortium.

Designer-in-Residence Fellowship

Applications currently closed

The Designer-in-Residence fellowship supports cartographers, visual designers, and others creating visual material with a geographic or cartographic theme. Residents receive $7000 and work with Center staff during a four-week residency.
