Showcasing research from three teen curators For our new rotating exhibition, Building Blocks: Boston Stories from Urban Atlases, the Map Center hired and worked with three high school students from Boston Public Schools as teen curators. We asked them to choose a place in the city and explore that site’s history going back to the nineteenth century, using our urban atlas collection to kick off their research. In-Person: Black Boston Stories — Growing Up · Feb 9, 6:00pm ET What was it like to grow up in the Boston of the past? What challenges face young Bostonians today? Join us for a panel conversation this Thursday, February 9 at 6PM at the Grove Hall Branch Library with four longtime Boston residents. Attendees are welcome to participate in the conversation. Food will be provided. A New Addition to the LMEC Team We’re excited to welcome Patricio Pino to the team as the Spring 2023 co-op student serving as Visitor Services & Exhibition Assistant. He is a student at Northeastern University studying English and Anthropology. We sat down with Patricio to learn more about his interests and background. For this edition of From The Vault, we’ll take a look at objects from our collections that speak to the spirit of love. Drop in any time between 2:00pm - 4:00pm.
