Carte du Port et Havre de Boston avec les Cotes Adjacentes, dans laquel en a Tracee les Camps et les Retranchmens Occupe, tant par les Anglois que par les Americains

Jean De Beaurain
Paris, 1776
39" w x 27" h
This French map of Boston harbor is based on hydrographic and military surveys prepared by British engineers before and during the American Revolutionary War. For Frenchmen interested in recent political events, the map also depicts the location of British and American troops during the British siege of Boston.
Of particular interest is the cartouche showing a patriot soldier holding a Liberty Pole and Flag, iconic representations of Boston’s Liberty Tree. This map is an important item in the Leventhal Map Center American Revolutionary War Era Collection of Distinction as well as an example of an urban map.
