Bring any of the Norman B. Leventhal Map Center education programs into your classroom! Outreach programs introduce students to map reading and interpretation, followed by small group activities in which students engage with high quality reproductions of historic maps from the Leventhal Map Center collection.
Programs are 1 – 1.5 hours.
Programs are intended for individual classrooms. The ideal class size is 20-30 students, although we can accommodate larger groups over multiple program sessions; these may need to take place over multiple days. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com to discuss options.
Classroom Visit Requirements: We will travel to any school that is within the I-495 corridor of Massachusetts. Classrooms should have a computer installed with Microsoft PowerPoint and a digital projector. Classrooms should have the space for students to work in small groups (4-5 students) on hands-on exercises.
For reservations, please submit a request form at least 4 weeks prior to your preferred dates.
Outreach programs are free for Boston Public Schools. For all other schools, program fees are calculated based on the total number of sessions booked per program topic. Schools will be billed at the completion of their program. Fees are as follows:
One session: $175
Two sessions: $300
Three sessions: $400
Four or more sessions: $400 for the first 3 sessions + $100 for each additional session
*No additional charge if multiple days are needed to accommodate the total number of sessions per program.
Additional travel fees of $0.54/mile apply if travel distance is over 25 miles from the Leventhal Map Center.
